The driving licence category A2 allows you to ride motorcycles without a sidecar with an engine power up to 35 kW. The power/weight ratio of the motorbike cannot exceed 0.2kW/kg.The step-bystep procedure for this driving license allows you to get your first motorcycle driving licence early and to gradually climb up to higher engine power with the A2 licence.
Scooters and motorcycles
The second level of motorcycle licence is the driving licence category A2. It allows you to drive small motorcycles (up to 50cc) and mopeds with a maximum cubic capacity of 125cc. The goal of the class is to allow you to gradually climb the ladder of engine power, and then ponder the possibility of a bigger one. The test is a little more difficult than the first category, and you will need to take more theoretical classes to prepare.
The category A2 driver's licence is valid up to the age of 24. It can be used in conjunction with a car driving license category prawo jazdy a1 or as part of a provisional category B driver's license. If you are older than 24 years old, however you require a full category A driver's licence to operate motorcycles that have more than 35 kW.
You can get a group prawo jazdy a1 driving license at the age of 16 (in Denmark and Malta, 15; in Austria, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Finland, Germany, prawo jazdy B1 Hungary, Iceland, Latvia, Lithuania, Italy, Poland, Slovakia and Slovenia, 14). Once you reach the age of 16, you will need to take the A2 category motorbike test. You must pass the test prior to turning 18. After two years, you can move to category A.
After passing the test in category A2, you're allowed to operate a motorcycle, with or without sidecar, and vehicles that have up to 35 kW of power. These vehicles must have a weight/power that is not more than 0.02 kW/kg. They cannot be directly derived from a vehicle that has twice the maximum power.
If you have passed the two-part test for a moped or a motorcycle of a lower class from the 1st July 1996, you are able to skip the theory test and only take the practice exam. You can ride a smaller moped or scooter that has L plates or get the new AM licence, which will allow you to ride 50cc bikes with a top speed of 45mph. The AM licence is only valid if you've passed your theory test and attended nine hours of training, divided into theory and practical instruction at a driving school.
Motor vehicles with 4 wheels
This category covers all motorized vehicles with four wheels, except for passenger cars and buses. It also covers utilitarian vehicles like pickups, panels and vans. Motorhomes, campers and lorries are also included. This category also includes vehicles like hearses, ambulances and carryalls that are designed to carry more than eight people or have a maximum authorised mass of 750 kg. A1 drivers are able to operate vehicles of this type with a trailer weighting up to 775kg.
You must have passed the theory test to be able to drive a car in this category. To do this, you have to attend a total of 12 lessons lasting 90 minutes of the basic material and an additional 4 lessons lasting 90 minutes for the add-on (category A2). The theoretical tests are an average score of 70%.
If you pass the theory test, you'll have to do a practical driving test on private property and on public roads. After passing both tests, you will be issued a request for your driving license. This request must be presented to the local authorities three years after passing the practical test.
Once you have passed your driving test, it's possible to begin driving vehicles that fall in the category of A2. In some countries, after holding an A1 license for two years, there is no requirement to pass a separate test to obtain an A2 driving licence which permits you to operate motorcycles up 35 kW. This permits you to get familiar with smaller two-wheelers before moving to more powerful machines.
If you have a driver's licence of category A2, you are able to use a tricycle so long as it has a maximum cylinder capacity of 125cc and an output power of 11 kW. This category was previously part of the A license. All drivers who received a full category A licence prior to the 19th January 2013 were able to ride mopeds and keep the right.
Motor vehicles with 5 or more wheels
This category includes vehicles with motors designed to be used on the road for transport of goods or passengers. These vehicles must include at least 2 or 3 wheels that are in contact with ground and a driver's seat or saddle and a motor that can achieve speeds of 20 miles per hour or more. These vehicles are usually equipped with a steering wheel and brakes. These vehicles can also be controlled and travelled in reverse. In some instances, the hood of these vehicles can be opened. In the past, this term has been been applied to trucks (van mini-vans, mini-vans panel, pickup sport utility) and buses that hold 16 or more passengers. However, a different set of federal requirements governing uniform licensing standards for commercial vehicle drivers employs a slightly different definition that excludes vehicles with gross weight ratings of more than 26,001 pounds.
The category A2 driving licence can be used for driving a motorized cycle, moped or motorcycle. This type of license is only valid for motors that have a maximum cylinder volume of 125 cubic centimeters, or a maximum power of 15 kilowatts. This license can also be used to drive tricycles with motors. The minimum age for this license class is 16 years old. Physically disabled people may also be able to drive motor tricycles in category A1 or A.
Some people opt to obtain an operator's license. This is valid for vehicles up to 8 seats and a maximum mass of 3,500kg. A driver's operator license allows them to tow trailers of up to 750kg MAM. They are also able to operate a tractor or construction machine with a trailer that weighs up to 3,500kg MAM.

Motor vehicles that have trailers
Category A2 includes motor vehicles with trailers. These are not driven by drivers, but rather towed by larger vehicles, such as cars. The license you are granted for Category A2 is valid for a period of three years, beginning at the time you have passed your theory test. You must renew it before the expiry date to ensure it remains in force.
In addition to the categories above, you can also get a licence to drive other vehicles that meet certain requirements. For instance, you require a special license to drive a large-sized goods vehicle, which is classed as a category C. This requires a thorough understanding of special regulations for the transport of dangerous goods.
The code 96 is added to your category B of your driving licence when you have passed both the theory and the practical test, but your vehicle and trailer do not qualify for a category C licence. You must hold a driving license in category B at least for two years, and you must pass both a theory as well as a practical test.
