Driving License Category A2
The A2 category of driving license permits you to operate motorcycles without sidecars with a maximum engine output of 35 kW. Its power/weight ratio cannot exceed 0.2 kW/kg.
This driving license was created to let you get your first small motorcycle driving license early, and then move on to the A2 licence, which has more engine power.
Motorcycles and scooters
Driving license category A2 is the second level of motorcycle driving licence. It allows you to drive mopeds and small bikes up to 50cc. The class is intended to let you slowly ascend the ladder of engine power and cautiously fantasize about the possibility of a bigger one. The test is more difficult and requires more theory.
The category A2 driving licence is valid until you reach the age of 24. It can be used in conjunction with a car driving license category A1 or as a part of a provisional category B driver's licence. If you're older than 24 years old, however the full category B driving licence is required to drive motorcycles with a power output of more than 35 kW.
You can get your group A1 license at 16 years old (in Denmark, Malta, and Austria, Bulgaria, Czech Republic; in Germany, Hungary, Iceland and in the following countries: Latvia, Lithuania,
Prawo Jazdy Na Traktor Italy and Poland). When you reach the age of 16 years old, you will need to pass the motorbike test under the category A2. You need to pass the test before reaching the age of 18. After two years, you can change to category A.
After passing the test in category A2, you can drive a motorcycle with or without a sidecar as well as three-wheeled vehicles with a power range of up to 35 kW. The vehicles must also have a weight/power ratio of no more than 0.2 kg/kW and must not be built from a vehicle that has twice the power of the maximum.
If you have passed a two-part moped or lower category motorcycle test from the 1st of July 1996, then you can skip the theory test and only take the practical exam. You can choose to use a small scooter, or moped with L plates, or obtain the AM license which allows you to ride bikes up to 50cc with a top-speed of 45mph. The AM licence is only valid if you've passed the test in your theory and have completed nine hours of training, divided into practical and theory lessons at a driving school.

To be able to drive a car of this class, you have to have passed the theory test. You must complete 12 90-minute lessons on the fundamental material, and four 90-minute lessons on the additive (category AA2). The exams in the theory require a minimum score of 70 percent.
If you pass the theory test, you will have to take a driving test on private land and on public roads. Once you have passed both tests, you will be issued with an application for a driving license. The request for a license must be submitted to the local authority within three years after passing your practical test.
After passing your driving test, it's possible to start driving vehicles that fall under the category A2. In some countries, after holding an A1 license for two years, there is no need to take a separate test to obtain an A2 driving licence, which allows you to operate motorcycles that have a maximum power of 35 kW. This allows you to learn on less powerful two-wheelers prior to upgrading to more powerful machines.
If you have a driving licence in category A2, you are able to use a tricycle so long as it has the capacity of 125cc, and a maximum power output of 11kW. This category was formerly part of the A license. All drivers who obtained a full category A licence before 19th January 2013 were allowed to ride mopeds and keep the right.
Motor vehicles with 5 or more wheels
This category includes vehicles with motors designed to be used on the road for the transportation of goods or passengers. They must have at the very least two or three wheels in contact with the ground as well as a saddle or seat for the driver and passengers, and a motor capable of producing speeds of 20 miles per hour or more. These vehicles come with brakes and a steering wheel. They can also be steered and travelled in reverse. In some cases, these vehicles have a hood or another covering that can be opened. This designation was historically used for trucks (vans minivans, minivans, panel, pickups as well as sport utility vehicles) and buses that carry 16 or greater passengers. A slightly different definition is used by a separate federal requirement that governs uniform standards for licensing of commercial vehicle drivers. This definition excludes vehicles that weigh 26,001 pounds or more.

NHTSA has developed a set of guidelines that will help guide the classification. These guidelines include:
Motor vehicles with trailers
Category A2 comprises motor vehicles with trailers. These are not vehicles pulled by the driver, but rather are towed behind larger vehicles, such as cars. For example the tractor that pulls trailers would fall into this category, as would small trucks that have been specifically designed to carry loads, such as those used by painters or plumbers to transport tools and other supplies to their work sites. The maximum authorised mass (MAM) for this category is 8,250kg.
You must pass the category A1 theory test or possess an entry-level driving license to drive vehicles in this class. Depending on the type of vehicle you are interested in, you may require passing a practical test before you can drive it.
The license you get for category A2 is valid for three years from the date on which you take your theory test. To keep it valid, you must renew it prior to the expiration date.
In addition to the categories mentioned above, you may also get a licence to drive other vehicles that meet certain requirements. For example, you need a special license to drive a large-sized goods vehicle, which is classed as category C. This requires a thorough understanding of special regulations that govern the transportation of dangerous goods.
The code 96 is added to your category B of your driving licence when you pass both the theory and practical test but your vehicle and trailer aren't eligible for a category C licence.
